Although dental implants are popular, they are not always suitable for every patient. In order to receive dental implants, there has to be enough bone density and an appropriate amount of room for a surgical post to be placed without touching the sinuses. Sinus lift surgery can be performed to help patients become more suitable to receive a dental implant. At Sangiv I. Patel, D.D.S., PA, we can prepare you for a dental implant with a sinus lift. Insufficient bone height in the upper jaw, poor-quality bone, or sinuses that could be too close to place an implant are reasons why you may require a sinus lift (sinus augmentation surgery). When having a sinus lift, your sinus floor needs to be raised so an implant can be properly placed. Schedule a consultation with experienced dentist Dr. Sangiv I. Patel at his office in Melbourne, FL to learn more about sinus lift surgery and dental implants.

"What a great place. Had some teeth to fix after an accident. The Dr. is so calm and comforting, Ashley, Whitney and Jillian take care of you and make you feel at home. They explain everything as they go too. Not sure why you would go anywhere else, here they have the best tools, equipment and the friendliest staff!"- J.G. / Google / May 13, 2021
"Well I'm back again for some work on my front teeth that were so thin they were translucent & breaking. Asthough I was nervous about having to get crowns on the front Dr Patel convinced me to do it. They're perfect, natural looking & I love smiling now! Thanks again to my dentist with the amazing memory which he uses it to supplement his extensive records for each patient. Dr Patel has many of the latest dental "toys" and knows how to use them. The office staff is equally friendly and well versed in their respective areas. When I was a relatively new patient my son-in-law was visiting and broke a front tooth the evening before he was to speak to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Dr Patel had him come right in and spent several hours making him a new tooth. That's the kind of devotion to his practice that makes it so special. Now that I have finished putting his children through college, (just kidding) I will continue to insure his comfortable retirement! As you might have guessed, we do have some fun giving the staff a hard time."- M.C. / Google / Mar 31, 2021
"Dr Sangvi I Patel is by far the best dentist I have ever been too. I had an emergency and he got me in the next day. He makes sure you do not fill any pain during procedures. He will be my dentist as long as I live in Florida and if I move I will fly in to see him. Yes ,he Is that good. Candidates for a sinus lift are those who have limited room in the upper jaw for a dental implant, or when the sinuses are too large or too close to the bone. At your consultation with Dr. Patel, an x-ray will be needed to measure your jaw and sinuses and determine if repositioning the sinuses with or without a bone graft would be a proper course of action before a dental implant.
What To Expect
A sinus lift is a detailed surgical procedure that is performed in our office by Dr. Patel. If needed, a bone graft will be prepared. An incision will be made in the gum at the back of your mouth. Your tissue will be lifted to reveal the bone. The bone graft, if needed, will be placed before the sinuses are pushed higher and away from the jaw. Finally, the incision within the gumline will be sutured.
After your sinus lift, you could be given a prescription for an antibiotic and pain reliever to help you during your recovery. Dr. Patel will also inform you of how to care for your incisions with instructions before the procedure. You should schedule a follow-up appointment about a week after your sinus lift for suture removal. The bone graft will require several months to heal before a dental implant can be placed.
If you have insurance, we will contact your provider to ascertain your coverage and estimate your out-of-pocket costs. If you don't have dental insurance, Dr. Patel can talk to you about payment methods we accept and give you information on low-interest medical financing.
Sinus Lift Surgery
Having a strong jawbone is essential for the success of an implant. Dental implants need a solid support system in the jaw before they can be installed, and a sinus lift surgery will keep the implant from imposing on your sinuses. We ask you to contact our office in Melbourne, FL to schedule a consultation with Dr. Patel if you have any questions or concerns about your candidacy for the procedure.
